Principal's Report - Tuesday 16th August 2016
Hello from Melbourne!
This week – Monday and Tuesday – I am at the Victorian Association of Secondary School Principals, Annual Conference. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity for me to continue with my own professional learning and to also speak with other principals and experts about some of the exciting initiatives that are happening in education. I look forward to sharing some new knowledge with the DMSC staff as we continue to strive to improve our school.
This week is National Science Week. Mrs Vercoe and the Science staff have some fun and exciting science related activities planned – I hope all of our students get involved.
This week is also Education Support Staff week. We have a great team of support staff here at DMSC and often their work goes unnoticed and unacknowledged. On behalf of the staff, students and members of our school community, I would like to thank all of our ES Staff for their continued commitment to making DMSC a great place! Our team members are:
|Kaye Webb ||Business Manager
|Donna Schultz ||Administration
|Tim Ivett ||IT Guru
|Georgina Smith ||Librarian/First Aid Officer
|Sue Bell ||Lab Technician
|Julie Nooteboom ||QuickSmart Coordinator
|Helen Polack ||Canteen Manager
|Julie Elliott ||Integration Aide
|Steve Bouts ||Grounds and Maintenance
|Marco Pietropaolo ||Bus Driver
|Suzi Wouters ||Gym Manager
Curriculum Day – Friday August 19
This Friday, we are having a Curriculum Day, which will be a pupil-free day. Staff will start the day with breakfast at 7.15am, then commence the first professional development session at 8.00am. The primary focus of our day is on the implementation of the new Victorian Curriculum. Fortunately we are well underway with this process, however this day will give all staff the opportunity to ensure that the programs we are teaching reflect the new curriculum requirements.
School Production – “Rabbit”
Theatre Restaurant Night - $30 (includes meal and ticket)
Theatre Night - $10 adults and $5 for students
Tickets are now on sale for our school production. The students and Mr Throssell have been working tirelessly on this year’s performance and I am looking forward to seeing the show. The Thursday night will be theatre-restaurant style and the Friday night will be a standard theatre performance. Please ring or call into the office to reserve your tickets.
Congratulations to our local netballers!
Well done to our DMSC students who polled very well in the Wimmera League (Football & Netball) Best and Fairest vote count. The junior girls did very well – and I encourage you all to read of their achievements in last week’s edition of The Banner.
Final Restaurant Night – BOOKED OUT!
Tomorrow night is our final DMSC restaurant night for 2016. We have closed the bookings at 112 people – it will be a great night.
Dimboola Food Festival
This weekend is the inaugural Dimboola Food Festival. I encourage all members of the DMSC community to support this great local event. Together with my husband Peter, I am looking forward to participating in many events over the weekend.
At yesterday’s General Assembly, the next round of Academic and Values Awards were presented. Congratulations to all of the recipients.
