Principal's Report - Tuesday 10th May 2016
Yesterday many students battled cool and blustery conditions to tackle our cross country course. Fortunately the rain held off, however it was quite muddy and slippery under foot. There were some excellent individual performances with Olivia Revell recording the fastest time out of all the girls, Tyreece Taylor recording the fastest time for the junior boys and Mark Polycarpou winning the senior boys category. Thank you to Mr O’Neill for coordinating the event and to the staff who manned the checkpoints. It was also very pleasing to see quite a large contingent of parents supporting the students. The next round of cross country will be in Kaniva.
This morning we commenced our NAPLAN testing for 2016. While I realise for some students that this can be a time of considerable stress, please reassure you son or daughter and explain that our only expectation is that they do their best. It is important to note, that the results your child gets are an indication of their ability at one point in time. From the school’s perspective, we are more interested in the whole cohort data (looking collectively at all of the students’ results in that year level) which enables us to identify strengths and weaknesses in our curriculum and teaching practice.
Year 7 – 2017 – Information Night
This Wednesday evening, we will be hosting an information night for prospective students and families regarding Year 7 in 2017. I extend a warm welcome to all interested parties and the night will commence at 7.00pm in the Health and Fitness Centre. If you are unable to attend, please contact our Transition Coordinator, Ms Marcy Britten to arrange another time to visit the school.
